Vandaag ben ik rond half 9 weer vertrokken richting het station, om de laatste 2 dorpjes van Cinque Terre te bezichtigen.
De eerste stop was Monterosso. Monterosso is een klein dorpje waar de haven en het dorp gesplitst word door de spoorbrug. Vandaag was de zee erg ruw, dat leverde wat mooie plaatjes op langs de kustlijn.
De tweede stop was Vernazza. In Vernazza stopt de trein vrijwel midden in het dorp, vanaf het station is het bergafwaarts richting de haven. In de haven vind je leuke terrasjes waar ik heerlijk geluncht heb. Vanuit de haven kun je 2 kanten op om Vernazza van wat hoger af te bezichtigen. Vanaf de route naar Monterosso (helaas was de route gesloten wegens rotsen op het pad) of vanaf de route naar Corniglia (helaas was deze route ook gesloten) maar voordat de route begint heb je een prachtig uitzicht over het dorp. Ook is wandelen door het dorp ook zeker een aanrader, je vind er veel smalle kleurrijke steegjes.
De derde stop was Le Spezia. Le Spezia is een grote stad, vanuit het station ben ik richting de haven gelopen. In de haven liggen veel grote jachten en cruise schepen. Lang ben ik niet in Le Spezia geweest, omdat het al best wel een eind lopen was vanaf het station.
De terugweg naar Levanto, ben ik nog een keer gestopt in Manarola. De rede daarvoor was dat het vandaag zonnig was, voor een fotograaf de reden om te wachten tot het gouden uurtje om foto’s te maken van Manarola.
Morgen reis ik weer verder. Morgen rijd ik vanaf Levanto naar Ventimiglia, waar ik 2 nachten op een camping blijf staan. Ventimiglia is het laatste kustplaatje voor de Franse grens. Vanuit dit plaatsje is het makkelijk om met het openbaar vervoer naar Monaco te gaan. Het geeft toch een fijner gevoel als de camper veilig op een camping staat, in plaats van een openbare parkeerplaats.
Second day at Cinque Terre
Today, I left around half past 8 to visit the last two villages of Cinque Terre.
The first stop was Monterosso. Monterosso is a small village where the harbor and the village are separated by the railway bridge. Today, the sea was very rough, creating some beautiful scenes along the coastline.
The second stop was Vernazza. In Vernazza, the train stops almost in the middle of the village, and from the station, it goes downhill towards the harbor. In the harbor, there are charming terraces where I enjoyed a delightful lunch. From the harbor, you can go in two directions to get a higher view of Vernazza: the route to Monterosso (unfortunately, the path was closed due to rocks) or the route to Corniglia (unfortunately, this route was also closed). However, before the trail begins, you have a beautiful view of the village. Walking through the village is also highly recommended, with many narrow, colorful alleys.
The third stop was La Spezia. La Spezia is a large city, and I walked towards the harbor from the station. The harbor is filled with large yachts and cruise ships. I didn’t stay long in La Spezia because it was quite a walk from the station.
On the way back to Levanto, I stopped once again in Manarola. The reason was that it was sunny today, making it an ideal time for a photographer to wait for the golden hour to take photos of Manarola.
Tomorrow, I will continue my journey. From Levanto, I will drive to Ventimiglia, where I will stay at a campsite for two nights. Ventimiglia is the last coastal town before the French border. From this town, it’s easy to use public transportation to reach Monaco. It gives a better sense of security to have the camper safely on a campsite rather than in a public parking lot.
