Finland

Finland is a country in Northern Europe, located between Sweden to the west, Russia to the east, Norway to the north, and the Baltic Sea to the south.

The capital city is Helsinki. The country has a population of about 5.5 million people. Finnish and Swedish are the official languages, with the majority of the population speaking Finnish.

Finland is known for its breathtaking nature. Forests cover approximately 75% of the country, and there are thousands of lakes and islands, making the landscape unique and diverse. The country is also famous for its phenomenal natural phenomenon, the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), especially visible in the north during the winter months.

Finland has a subarctic climate, which means that winters are cold and dark, while summers are relatively mild. In some parts of the country, the sun does not rise during the winter months, while in summer, it never fully sets.

Finnish culture has strong influences from both Scandinavian and Russian traditions, due to historical ties with these regions. Finland has a rich literary tradition, renowned composers such as Jean Sibelius, and a thriving design culture.

The sauna is an integral part of Finnish culture. Finland has more saunas than cars, and it is common for Finns to visit the sauna regularly as part of their relaxation and social activities.
