Wilderness Hotel Nellim

I booked my trip to Finland through TUI, called the Nellim Wilderness Week. This 8-day excursion includes accommodations, breakfast, lunch, dinner, warm clothing, and excursions at the Wilderness Hotel Nellim. You’ll stay in a beautiful room with a sauna. Nellim is a small village located by Lake Inari, 350 km above the Arctic Circle and 20 km from the Russian border.

Aurora Hunting

For most people, spotting the Aurora Borealis, or the Northern Lights, is high on their bucket list. In 2022, that wish of mine came true. In just 8 days, I had the chance to admire the Northern Lights five times. The Northern Lights are often faint and almost invisible to the naked eye. Tip: If you’re out in the evening or night, use your phone camera to check if there’s a green glow visible. Cameras are much more sensitive to light, which is why you can capture the Northern Lights beautifully with a camera. Want to photograph it? Make sure you have a lens with a low f-number, like f/1.8. This allows the aperture to open wide, letting as much light as possible reach your sensor.

Snowmobile trip

The dream of every man – going full throttle on a snowmobile. During my trip to Finland, I took a 40 km snowmobile tour with the group I was traveling with. It was a cold but truly special journey across frozen lakes, with a stop at the buffer zone along the Russian border.

Husky safari

One of the days, you’ll go on a husky safari. You’ll be taken to a husky farm, where your sled team of huskies will be waiting for you. It’s a 17 km journey where you get to drive the sled. Well, “drive” might be a bit of a stretch – you can brake and release the brake, and the huskies will do the rest.

Reindeer farm

You will also visit a reindeer farm run by the Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland. At the reindeer farm, you can even enjoy a ride in a sleigh pulled by reindeer.
